Ammo shortage
Due to the shortage of ammo if you cannot find ammo for the shooting portion of the class, I have several .22LR semi auto pistols for you to use to qualify with. We also have a huge supply of .22LR ammo for sale at the classes! Don't let the ammo shortage stop you from choosing PCSD as your trainer. We still encourage you to use the gun you will carry but offer this as a last resort so you can get your permit. You can also use a .22LR semi auto for the skill builder class after the permit class.

June 27th has been set as the date for PCSD's second college appreciation class. We want to do something for the college students to thank them for their efforts and sacrifices and hard work. The first 100 students to sign up for this class will not pay any class fee. Just $5 for paper work and a $10 range fee. Lunch will be available for $5. So no one can say I am in this for the money now! The class will be at Shady Lanes Sportsmen club in Glencoe as well as the shooting portion. Non students regular pricing. You must be a full time student and have a valid current student ID, email a scan of it to enroll. No instructor does as much pro-bono class work as PCSD! This class is open to all $75 new and $55 renewal.

Saturday Class starts at 9:00 am and ends at 2:30 in most cases so plan on at least 5 hours or more of class. I have guns for you to use if you do not have one yet. Glock 26, Keltech PF9, Springfield XD sub compact all 9mm, Keltech P3AT .380, Ruger Auto.22LR, and S&W model 60 revolvers in 38 special so bring 50 rounds of ammo and the gun use is free!

I will not make you jump through hoops at the range beyond what the state requires (many instructors add timed shooting and other challenges not required by the state). I do the class portion at my house in a comfortable relaxed environment, and I will give you an evening you will not forget. You will not fall asleep at my class!

Legislation has been introduced in the House and Senate that you should be aware of. Here are links to the bills: HF 3324 and SF 2989. The result of the provisions contained in this legislation is nothing short of permanent gun registration in the State of Minnesota for pistols and semi-automatic assault weapons. If this bill becomes law, every time a pistol or semi-automatic military-style assault weapon is transferred -- even between two private parties -- the state would keep a record of who bought it, who sold it, and when the transfer occurred. There is no exception for antiques or historically significant weapons. In addition, pistols may not be loaned for hunting or target practice if the loan is intended for more than 12 hours without having a transfer occur (and therefore a NICS check being done and the gun being registered). If you would like to learn more about this legislation and the implications of it, Joel Rosenberg's blog has a good explanation. No one has both Utah and Minnesota for less than $75. I do this as a passion to promote the Second Amendment, not to make the most money I can! I have had students tell me that when talking to other instructors about why they should take their course instead of mine, price almost always comes up (because I am cheaper). A frequent comment from other instructors is, "You get what you pay for." They are right, you can pay more, but is what you get worth the extra money? You can pay up to twice as much for Motrin as you do at Walmart is it worth it?
Free Utah! What is Utah? Along with Minnesota, it is a multi-state permit. This is the closest you can get to a national carry permit! Carry in 28+ states with our permit options. Get the most states for the least amount of money with us. Bring a friend for free. If at the end of the class they do not want the permit, they do not pay!
What you get from me is a high-quality course presented by a well qualified, experienced, instructor; a free meal; the Utah course bundled with Minnesota for no additional cost; a chance to see a machine gun demo; and even the chance to shoot a machine gun. If other instructors out there really do give you more, is it really worth the extra cost?
Machine gun demo at Saturday classes outdoors!
Saturday Classes may include a demonstration of a fully auto or burst auto M16 Machine gun version rifle (if class agrees to it) when range qualification location allows. No other instructor has this. Contact Joe at (612) 327-3490 for details if you would like to actually shoot the machine gun. I have ammo for sale at outdoor range for the M16 if you would like to shoot it. No steel surplus or Wolf ammo. Only Brass case .223 if you bring your own new ammo. Wallmart has best deal on Winchester .223.
The Utah course is presented first. We then cover the remaining topics so you can apply for your Minnesota permit. Together they give you 28+ states to carry in with just two permit applications. All for just $75. You may, if you choose, apply for either the Minnesota or Utah permits individually, or both of them.
Need to renew your permit? If it expires in the next 12 months, get the training out of the way. If you join any of my existing classes, $55 is all you pay. Add the Utah course for only $10.

A word of advice: Talk to your potential instructors before signing up with them. Ask them what kind of training they have to qualify them as an instructor. Many Permit to Carry Instructors have only had a 6-hour training course from certifying organizations that do not require prerequisite training from reputable, high quality training organizations such as the NRA. Ask yourself, would you spend your hard earned money to get training in golf from someone who is not a pro? If not, why would you get gun training from someone who is inexperienced and has limited training in the discipline? I understand ratings and licenses how to get them and how to teach them so you will remember. Few instructors have as many hard to get qualifications as I have to teach.
I provide a high quality course filled with content you won't find anywhere else and present the material in a dynamic and understandable manner. You will not be disappointed and you will not fall sleep in my class. Just look at what a recent student said about my course:

Plane Cents Self Defense is proud to have been one of the first 3 organizations certified under the 2005 BCA rules in Minnesota. We are also certified through the NRA and MADFI. Plane Cents Self Defense is pleased announce that we are associated with and was certified by MADFI in 2005. We do not, however, do MADFI certified or sanctioned courses.
Plane Cents no longer offers AACFI permit to carry courses, however, Joe Penaz was AACFI trained. We have written our own BCA-approved course which goes beyond. Our course combines the knowledge gained from NRA, AACFI, MADFI, and other training in firearms instruction and incorporates the valuable insight gained through training hundreds of students, to create a comprehensive permit to carry course.
We have talked to many Sheriffs and law enforcement professionals. We know what their concerns are about citizens with weapons. Some Sheriff's departments have actually had a deputy attend my class unannounced and in plain dress to find out what I am teaching. We have been written up in the Chaska Herald by the sports editor who attended our class.
I also have the added advantage of having several law enforcement professionals within my close circle of family and friends. I have been lucky to hear their stories about what really goes on out there, many of which I will pass on to you.
Most importantly of all, I carry every day. This is important! Many instructors out there do not; many others have carried only since the bill passed. I have been involved with competitive shooting as well as hunting with a handgun for 30 years. The person you choose to train you does make a difference. After all, the last thing you want to do is find yourself in a situation where you defended yourself properly and then end up in jail.
