Pay More? Taking Your Permit to Carry Course Shouldn’t
Break the Bank
How much should a Minnesota Permit to Carry course cost? The truth is, getting
a “Permit to Carry a Firearm in Minnesota can be very expensive, and
for some folks, it can be too expensive, and they go unprotected.
Unlike several other states that only require that citizens be “law abiding” in order to carry a firearm, Minnesota requires that potential applicants attend a “Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm” course, conducted by an organization certified by the BCA. The cost for that course is left up to the individual training organization, one organization charges as much as $200. At Plane Cents Self Defense (PCSD™), we believe that it’s your right to obtain a permit to carry a firearm, and that you shouldn’t be “priced out” of that right.
So what exactly do you get for $75 from PCSD? You’ll be taught all of the key things that will keep you out of trouble in Minnesota, including the three key things that the state requires us to teach, including: Instruction in the fundamentals of pistol use; Instruction in the legal aspects of firearm possession, carry and use, including the rules governing the use of deadly force; and an actual shooting qualification. In addition to those topics, we’ll also provide you with the appropriate instruction and certificate that you’ll need if you’d like to apply for your Utah permit, which when combined with your Minnesota permit, will allow you to carry in 31 states. Oh, and we’ll also throw in a home cooked meal! We do not make you meet at a motel for your class. We meet at sportsman's clubs, conference rooms and some times my house, in a room specially set up for classes. Oh I forgot Goose lake auto parts, well you may think a junk yard? Well you have to see the lodge that belongs to the owners to believe it. If you can make one of these classes at Goose lake you will not regret it.
So what extra things are you taught by that training organization that charges $125 more than PCSD? Guess what? You get taught EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS. They won’t teach you about a secret 5th rule governing the use of deadly force that only they know about (here’s a hint, there isn’t one), and you won’t be taught about a 5th universal safety rule that they invented, that’s worth the extra $125 just to hear about it.

but then again, we’re not trying to sell you a Mercedes, or a piece of

practice ammunition.

This is a real sad story about a guy who just does not get it. You do not have to read this if you do not want to. This is just something I have to do for all the good instructors out there, and there are a lot of them!
Why is Joel Rosenberg trashing out so many other instructors?
There is a instructor named Joel Rosenberg (Twincitiescarry course)
who is a permit to carry instructor certified by MADFI, he
claims to have trade marked twin cities carry, when I asked him to prove it,
because I was unable to verify that, he never replied. So he went on a rampage
against me and any instructor that used the key words "twin city or cities
carry" stating that they ripped him off and he owned that phrase. I was
using those in my key words years before he did he changed the name of his
course to that in 2005. That term is too generic and impossible to trade mark
when I researched it, if it was in fact ever trademarked by him! There were
also many other instructors doing the same, that is using that term in their
web sites.
Ask your self why would another instructor trash out, create parody web sites
and spend their money to tear down other instructors? No other
instructor does this except him. If other instructors were doing the same maybe
one would think, I should pay attention to this.
He purchased my name joepenaz.com, yes he did! That is wrong
and unethical! He tries to use it against me with his internet troll work.
This is just wrong. This is an undisputable fact. I just was able to purchase
it back as he finally let it go. He once had some kind of virus time bomb on
a link installed on his parody site, he told me to go there in an email. I
clicked on it to see new stuff he was spewing, it started a clock that counted
down. I was able to shut down my link before it could infect me some people
were not so lucky I was told. When I talked about this on my rebuttle, he took
it off and stated it was not harm full. Who knows? he removed it anyway. This
kind of crap is not funny. He has been tormenting and bashing me and other
instructors with parody web sites and his personal forum, but he has been focusing
on me, as he is obsessed with me. His antics and unprofessional behavior has
gotten him removed all certifying organizations he was onced certified through
except MADFI, they told me they have no right to stop him.
Funny thing is all the other organizations all of them, he
claims to be multi certified through (and that is just untrue, he is only certified
though MADFI, that we could find) let him go, so that is a
lie, they gave him the boot. They felt what he was doing was wrong
and unethical. He still says on his taking aim web page he is AACFI
certified. Funny? Go to AACFI and he is not listed? Whats up? You should not
have to claim you are somehting your are not.
He puts cards and information that mocks me and other instructors at guns stores, I have some of the cards he left at one such store mocking me I can send you a copy of this. Can you believe this? I recently found a 9x11 full page copy of his parody site mocking me that I took down at one of the gun stores that I have my class information at. This is so childish. This is what he does, he makes fun of law enforcement, local politicians and instructors for sport as it entertains him. I have a copy of a statement proving he said this on his forum once, he does it because it amuses him? That's great, hurt people with lies and ridicule because it amuses him. Well he has no one left, he has alienated him self from all the instructors, come to one of the breakfast's we have and see what the instructors think of him. Do you want to take a course from a guy who does this? No instructor I know of endorses his behavior.
He is not welcome at any instructor meetings or breakfast meetings that I am, as well as the other instructors are welcome to. He feels that his classes are worth $200, who knows I certainly have not sat in at one of them maybe it is, but he has also never been to one of mine. He has not attended any other of the instructor’s classes that he trashes out either none of them. I challenge you to find one other instructor, who does what he does, trash out other instructors? You can’t, he is all by himself. When you read the crap he puts out on the web ask yourself, why does he trash out his competition rather than explaining why his class is worth 2 or more times anyone else’s? He can’t. He just says he is the Man!
I have held hundreds of classes and thousands of students have sat through my classes. He does classes of 2 or 3 once a week if that. I say this because this is not about money. He does so few students a week (call the ranges and asked them they will tell you how few people he brings in with him) that no one even considers him competition. This is about what is right and wrong. What he is doing is wrong. He even monitors my site and publishes spelling errors, get real. Call any instructor and ask them what they think of Joel, you will be amazed what they say. I have a file 1” thick filled with his work for our records. No real business man or company I know of has found bashing your competition a valid business strategy unless they can't support the cost or quality of their product. I asked him to stop it, other instructors told him its not right and he needs to stop it and even the last certifying organaztion letf for him MADFI asked him to stop.
No one, I mean no one listens to him anymore, his forum lost so much traffic he shut it down. Everyone went to Mnguntalk.com. If you do not choose me, do not choose an instructor who behaves this way please. Go on the internet and visit his childish parody sites filled with lies about me and other instructors, and then try to find one other instructor who does what he does? There are a lot of good instructors out there, support them! The good instructors do not have to trash out their competition. He has hurt the instructor community, the carry bill and most of all himself with this behavior. Even the BCA considers what he does is wrong call them, as many people have called about him, see what they think about what he is doing..

all about value and you! My wife and I have been doing these classes togther
from the start of the carry permit in Minnesota, longer than most every one.
We are not about money that is proven in our pricing. I make mistakes and so
do other instructors, no one is perfect, we do not need someone like Joel ridiculing
us for things like spelling errors on our web sites. People who do what he
does, mocking and ridiculing them, do so because they are bully's. Many instructors
were afraid to say anything about him fearing he would start trashing them.
But finally he had no one left to support him and every one turned on him.
Feel free to call me, this just a small sampling of what this guy has done
to other instructors. Please ask your self why would he do this? Something
is wrong here. I have asked him to stop and I will remove all my rebuttals,
but he just keeps it up. Last, why does Joel and so many other instructors
buy Goggle add words that include my personal name, my business name and my
web sites names? Because I am busy and they aren't. Why? Give me a shot you
and 5000+ students will not be un happy, I promise.
Call me if you want a suggestion in your area for a good instructor if I am
too far out for you, I will have a suggestion for you. I work with all the
other instructors not against them. They were on my side, not on his when he
turned on me. I thank all the thousands of students who have seen through the
crap this guy puts up about me and other instructors, and still came to my
class, then refereeing people to me. It is you who have helped me grow the
numbers of law abiding citizens who want to exercise their right to carry.
Oh, don't worry, I won't try to sell you coffee cups, shirts and patches at
my class with the name of my business on them like he does. You won't pay for
my advertising ever I would just give it to you!
